Octave Joseph St Laurent 1818 - 1910 Great Great Grandfather

Octave Joseph St. Laurent was my great great grandfather and paternal grandfather to Francois Xavier St. Laurent (my mother's father and my maternal grandfather).

Octave's birth has been recorded as December 12, 1818 and December 12, 1820
in Rimouski, Quebec , Canada.  So far, I have not found an official birth record to confirm either date.  Octave's parents were  Ulfranc St. Laurent (1784-1858) and Marguerite Parent (1788-1865) .   He was one of sixteen children.

He married Salome Gagnon (1822-1862) on January 13, 1845 in  L'Isle-Verte, Quebec, Canada at age 26 and together they had ten children.

Salome Gagnon was born in Kamouruska, Quebec on March 1, 1822. Her parents were Joseph Gagnon and Salone Chorest

In the 1861 Census,  the family is recorded as living in Ste. Anne, Gaspe, Quebec.

On October 23, 1862, Octave's first wife Salome dies and he marries Esther St. Pierre on May 10, 1868 and has 3 more children:

Marie-Ann St. Laurent (1870)
Jochiam St. Laurent (1871)

Charles Monfred St. Laurent (1874-1954)

In the 1871 Census of Canada,  Octave and Esther are living in Cap Chatte with nine of their combined children and Octave's occupation is listed as Cultivateur or farmer.

In the 1881 Census, Octave and Esther are still in Cap Chatte with seven of their combined children.

In the 1901 Census, Octave is 81 years old and living with his wife Esther and daughter Marie in Levis, Quebec, closer to Quebec City (this may have been Esther's birth city).

Octave died at the age of 91 in Rimouski, Quebec on March 24, 1910 and his wife Esther died in 1932.
